The NTA convention took place in Hamburg, New York this year, July 30th through August 1st. The Florida Trappers Association (FTA) and Frontier Furs set up a combined booth in the main building featuring a fantastic display of our native Florida plants and furbearers. I do believe we had the best decorated setup in the whole building!
Although the convention attendance numbers seemed down from last year, our booth provided a fun and interactive experience that caught the attention of many kids and families who enjoyed taking photos with our large alligator head, from a 12-foot gator. Not many people there had ever seen an alligator up close before, and with our portable photo printer we were able to hand them a memorable souvenir of the moment to take home with them. We also sold many tickets for the FL Trappers gun raffle, as well as hats and stickers, so it was an overall success for our association, and a lot of fun.
These conventions are a wonderful way to make new connections, visit old friends and share stories. Well worth the long drive from Florida and we already have plans underway for next year! Next year’s NTA convention will take place in Kalamazoo, Michigan and the FTA and Frontier Furs have each purchased booth space in advance with plans for another unique and memorable display!
